My first go at handmaking shoes; techniques were learned through observation of existing shoes and YouTube videos of Italian master shoemakers. Lasts were hand-built from blue foam scraps. This project was part of a spring course at the University of Alberta with a focus on sustainability through Life-Cycle Analysis. One analysis was performed using OpenLCA software prior to building with ideal materials, then once again with actually materials that I was able to source.
